The 2011 Ford Motor Company International Fellowship of the 92nd Street Y is now accepting applications from community leaders who are citizens and residents of Brazil , India , Indonesia , Israel , Turkey , Ukraine , and Venezuela . This annual fellowship is funded by the Ford Motor Company and organized by the 92nd Street Y to provide education and support to community leaders engaged in the nonprofit sector. To date, 211 individuals from 63 countries have received the Ford Fellowship, which is now in its eleventh year.
A successful applicant must demonstrate that he or she:
§ is a community leader engaged in the nonprofit sector, either professionally or as a volunteer;
§ is successfully addressing issues that affect the community’s well-being; and
§ would benefit from an intensive three-week nonprofit management training course in New York .
Previous Ford Fellows include:
§ a South African AIDS educator;
§ the president of a Jewish aid society facilitating Bosnia-Herzegovina’s transition to democracy;
§ a sustainable development expert from Zimbabwe ;
§ the founder of an Indian organization that educates women and children working in the silk industry; and
§ an Indonesian advocate for ethnic minorities.
The residency takes place June 2-June 22, 2011 in New York City . Airfare, accommodation, food, transportation, instruction, and other program-related expenses are included in the fellowship, and participants receive a small stipend upon arrival.
During the intensive three-week residency, Ford Fellows take classes in areas including nonprofit management strategy and leadership at Columbia University ’s Picker Center for Executive Education. The academic curriculum is complemented by visits to model nonprofits in New York City and meetings with academic, business, and government leaders. The experience is enhanced by Fellows’ residency at the 92nd Street Y, a Jewish community and cultural center founded in 1874 that annually serves over 300,000 people of all national, ethnic, religious, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Course synopsis
These unique programmes address what is perhaps the most important issue of our time from a multidisciplinary perspective.
The courses aim to provide state-of-the- art training for the rapidly expanding market in climate change professionals within the public, private, consultancy and not-for-profit sectors and the development field.
The programmes are multidisciplinary and students will acquire specialist knowledge of the causes of climate change, the physical and human consequences, and efforts to mitigate and adapt to a changing climate. In the Development course particular attention is paid to the specific consequences of climate change for poverty in developing countries; processes of adaptation; and policy responses.
Courses are taught by leading researchers in these fields from within the Geography Department and the world renowned Institute for Development Studies (IDS) and Science and Technology Policy Research Unit (SPRU). Students have the opportunity to develop a specialist thematic or regional enquiry in the dissertation.

Climate-Smart Leaders Program – Mencari Anak Muda sebagai Agen Perubahan
Generasi muda sebagai calon pemimpin bangsa dimasa yang akan datang sudah sepatutnya memiliki peran aktif
dalam menangani fenomena perubahan iklim yang menjadi ancaman bagi kelangsungan hidup bumi dan manusia.
Dengan pengetahuan, pengalaman, jaringan yang luas ditambah dengan ide cemerlang, energi dan antusiasme yang tinggi,
generasi muda dipercaya mampu dan memiliki segala potensi dan kesempatan untuk merespon perubahan yang terjadi di
dunia ini. Sehingga generasi muda tidak saja dapat menjadi katalis bagi perubahan positif di dunia namun juga menjadi
agen perubahan – Climate-Smart Leaders.
Melihat pentingnya generasi muda berada dalam barisan depan untuk menentukan masa depan dunia,
Yayasan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (YPB) dan Yayasan Inovasi Teknologi Indonesia (Inotek) bersama dengan
Dewan Nasional Perubahan Iklim (DNPI) mengembangkan program Climate-Smart Leaders.
Climate-Smart Leaders (CSL) adalah program yang ditujukan bagi generasi muda dengan usia 15 – 24 tahun yang
memiliki aktivitas tinggi di daerah perkotaan. Program ini bertujuan tidak hanya untuk membangun kesadaran tentang
pentingnya peran generasi muda untuk menjawab tantangan perubahan iklim namun juga memberikan kesempatan bagi
generasi muda untuk terlibat langsung dan melakukan aksi nyata untuk menerapkan gaya hidup hijau (green lifestyle)
dan menciptakan serta mengembangkan inovasi teknologi ramah lingkungan sebagai salah satu strategi mitigasi
dan adaptasi terhadap dampak negatif perubahan iklim.
Tema yang dikembangkan dalam program CSL adalah Youth & Biodiversity, Youth & Water and Energy,
Youth & Green Business, sertaYouth & Media. Pada tahap seleksi awal para finalis akan mengikuti kegiatan CSL Camp
yang akan diselenggarakan untuk belajar lebih tentang Kepemimpinan, Pembangunan Berkelanjutan, Perubahan Iklim,
dan Pengelolaan Proyek. Setelah selesai mengikuti kegiatan CSL Camp para peserta dapat melakukan kegiatan
proyeknya dibawah monitoring dari para pakar. Penghargaan CSL Award akan diberikan kepada pemenang dengan
projek yang paling inovatif, memiliki dampak positif yang besar dan dapat menjangkau wilayah yang luas. Para pemenang akan

MASDAR Institute in Abu Dhabi Announces Full Scholarships for Graduate Study
The Masdar Institute is a private, not-for-profit, independent, research-driven institute developed with the support and cooperation of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The Institute offers Masters and PhD programs in science and engineering disciplines, with a focus on advanced energy and sustainable technologies. Its faculty is of the highest quality and the intent is to have the structure of its top administration similar to MIT`s.
The Institute is located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Ph.D. students will have the chance to spend up to 1 year at MIT in Cambridge, MA, and will have a joint thesis committee consisting of Masdar Institute and MIT professors.
